Hola, I’m LaLa!

¡Hola! I’m La India, but most people call me “ LaLa.” I’m a former Spanish teacher turned cultural explorer and responsible travel blogger & content creator. I hold a Bachelor’s in Spanish Education from Widener University, and my Master’s in International Educational Development form the University of Pennsylvania. I have an amazing husband, lots of siblings, and a thirst for adventure!

You may be wondering why I have the name “Phirst Klass” or even if I fly first class. ‘Phirst Klass’ was a name given by my sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in 2018. Do I fly first class? Sometimes! I am the wife of a flight attendant so it comes with some pretty cool perks!

My first solo trip was at the young age of 14 to Costa Rica. I went on an independent study program to study Spanish and stayed with a host family. That experience has led me to continue my travels to over 30 countries! I became passionate about responsible/sustainable travel, cultural immersion, female empowerment, & international education.

I travel the world to promote authentic, cultural experiences, highlight the uniqueness of other countries, & support local businesses. My goal is to inspire others, especially those of underserved communities, to travel the world, and do so responsibly. I hope to encourage intercultural connections/ exchange, & ensure that the joy of travel can be experienced for generations to come!
